Postdoctoral Researcher
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our research team at Inserm, in the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurosciences of Paris.
The Joutel lab studies pathogenic mechanisms of Small Vessel Diseases of the brain, a group of diseases that are among the main causes of stroke and dementia worldwide. We use genetic forms of these diseases largely indistinguishable from sporadic forms as paradigm and conduct in vivo and ex vivo studies in relevant mouse models. Our lab has made landmark discoveries in CADASIL, the most prevalent hereditary Small Vessel Disease, caused by mutation in the Notch3 receptor. Our overarching goal is to use mechanistic discoveries as a guide to new therapeutic approaches to treating these diseases.
The available position will focus on the extracellular matrix of brain vessels. The successful candidate will work on established mouse models of Small Vessel Disease and will apply a multidisciplinary approach combining molecular biology (RNAseq), biochemistry (mass spectrometry), immunohistochemistry and high resolution imaging.
The applicant must hold a PhD or MD or MD/PhD degree within the last 0-2 years and is expected to have a strong record of scientific productivity with publications as first author in internationally renowned journals.
The applicant must have extensive experimental background in animal studies and strong background in (cerebro)vascular biology.
The position is available from November 2019 for an initial two years-appointment which may be renewable for up to four years total based on performance.
