2 Research Assistant and 2 Postdoc Positions in Biochemistry and cryo-EM (Sept 2020) (https://www.dbs.nus.edu.sg/jobs/jobs-in-dbs/)
Immediate positions of two postdocs and two research assistants are available in Dr. Luo Min’s group in the Department of Biological Science (DBS) at National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr. Luo just finished his Postdoc training from Harvard Medical School, where he has published several papers in top journals such as Science (DOI: 10.1126/science.aas9699 and 10.1126/science.aat0839), Cell (doi: 10.1016/j.cell.2017.06.012), and Communications Biology (doi: 10.1038/s42003-020-01173-z).
Luo lab will utilize high-resolution single-particle cryo-EM, in combination with a variety of biochemical and biophysical techniques, to study the structure and function of membrane proteins which play essential role in nutrients uptake for pathogens or iron homeostasis in human. There are several exciting projects related to essential human diseases currently available for outstanding researchers who are keen to combine different techniques to understand better in fundamental cellular function.
Postdoc Position
For the Postdoc positions, we are looking for outstanding scientists who have strong background in biochemistry and structural biology of proteins, or equivalent area, and are highly motivated to learn membrane biology and single-particle cryo-EM. Experience in membrane protein and EM will be a plus, but is not important.
Research Assistant Position
Ideal candidates should have an excellent bachelor or master degree in biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology or a related area of biology. Particularly, strong background in protein cloning, expression, and purification will be required.
Salary will be according to the funding policies of NUS, and will be increased every year based on the behaviour.
