The UM-SJTU JI is an English-based higher education institute founded in 2006, in collaboration between the University of Michigan and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The Chinese Government and both partner universities are fully committed to developing JI as a world-class institute for engineering education. In 2014, JI was the first Chinese institution to win the prestigious Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education—one of the highest honors in international higher education. In a short time, JI has become the model example for Sino-American educational collaboration. JI currently offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Material Science & Engineering based on University of Michigan's curricula. All course instruction is in English. The JI operates on a three-semester schedule. The successful candidate is expected to teach 6 courses a year, 3-4 credits each course. Courses expected to be taught would include various levels of Chemistry and potentially material science courses in interest fields of the candidate.

| 1. Primarily teach Chemistry courses with the possibility of teaching other courses of material science. 2. Prepare and conduct classes, design homework and supervise examinations 3. Maintain office hours (2 hours per course per week) to meet with one’s students 4. Guide Teaching Assistants for recitation classes and grading 5. Upload teaching materials and relevant information to the course website 6. Participate in program development and planning and other common non-teaching duties. |
