Accepting applications for Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions (Synthetic Inorganic and Organic Chemistry) in the AIChemy (Artificial Intelligence Chemistry) Lab at the School of Physical Science and Technology (SPST), ShanghaiTech University.

The AIChemy Lab led by Professor Omar M. Yaghi is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow candidates with interests in the area of fundamental inorganic chemistry, organic synthesis, and materials development. Projects are focused on making materials from an increasing number of unique building units that are arranged in specific sequences within crystals.

The chosen candidate will be an important part of a new group of chemists at ShanghaiTech in the Artificial Intelligence Chemistry (AIChemy) Laboratory and can expect to gain a variety of experiences during their time as a postdoctoral researcher.

Qualifications: 

1. Candidates should have a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Chemistry. 

2. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with synthetic chemistry, particularly with air-free Schlenk and glove box techniques as well as standard characterization techniques such as NMR, MS, IR, UV-Vis, and XRD are required. 

3. Experience with EPR, electrochemistry, electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, or Mossbauer spectroscopy would be welcomed.

4. Have first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.

5. Excellent communication and writing skills in English are required. 

6. Willingness to perform high-risk, high-reward research and to sustain and overcome repeated failures that are associated with such research.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Carry out research projects independently as well as part of a team.

2. Liaise between the AIchemy laboratory at ShanghaiTech and Prof. Yaghi’s group at UC Berkeley.

3. Serve as a mentor to graduate students.

4. Carry out routine administrative tasks to keep the laboratory operations running smoothly.
