Your responsibilities
Scientific Computing at IST Austria not only runs a HPC cluster, but also supports with services in various fields of scientific computing and data analysis. We are looking for a talented candidate for bioinformatics data analysis, who is eager to work together with IST scientists to design and analyze cutting edge experiments at the forefront of life sciences.
• Collaborate with research groups to analyze data sets obtained by RNA/DNA sequencing (e.g. WES, RNAseq, ATACseq, ChIPseq, etc.)
• Assist scientific groups in experimental design (e.g. for genomic technologies)
• Develop custom data analysis workflows and maintain existing ones for RNA/DNA sequencing data (bulk, single cell)
• Provide support for establishing and running bioinformatics data analysis pipelines in the context of our HPC cluster
• Contribution of text and figures to scientific publications and/or grant applications
Your profile
• MSc or PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics or Computer Science
• Profound knowledge in programming or scripting language(s) and statistics
• End user knowledge about Linux based HPC clusters (e.g. running jobs via SLURM)
• Some experience on training end users and providing documentation
• Overview of current bioinformatics software and wet lab protocols, and willingness to keep abreast of future developments
• General knowledge in biology and preparedness to work with a range of biological topics
• High degree of responsibility combined with high quality standards to deliver a constantly high level of service
