南京大學孫德征教授領導的氣候系統(tǒng)動力學研究組現招聘一名博士后研究員。成功應聘者將參與推進對厄爾尼諾復雜性理解的研究,并為其預測能力的提升做出貢獻。

本職位為全職、固定期限崗位,旨在支持處于早期職業(yè)階段的研究人員,為未來在學術界或科研領域的發(fā)展打下基礎。

一、崗位職責:

1.        利用不同復雜度的模型,研究厄爾尼諾多樣性和復雜性的成因。

2.        分析模型輸出和觀測數據,以檢驗假設并改進模型結構。

3.        根據需要,協助開發(fā)新的概念模型和動力學模型。

4.        與氣候系統(tǒng)動力學研究組的其他成員密切合作。

5.        在科學會議上展示研究成果,并在同行評審期刊上發(fā)表論文。

二、崗位要求:

1.        大氣科學、海洋學、氣候動力學、應用數學、物理學或相關領域博士學位(已取得或即將取得)。

2.        具有扎實的動力系統(tǒng)、數學建模和氣候變率方面的背景知識。

3.        具備數值建模和數據分析經驗。

4.        能夠獨立開展科研工作,并具備良好的團隊合作精神。

5.        具備良好的書面與口頭溝通能力。

三、優(yōu)先考慮條件:

有與厄爾尼諾–南方濤動(ENSO)或熱帶氣候變率相關的研究經驗。

熟悉理想化氣候模型和綜合氣候模型。

熟悉分析非線性和復雜系統(tǒng)的基本方法與工具。

關于氣候系統(tǒng)動力學研究組:

氣候系統(tǒng)動力學研究組由孫德征教授領導,致力于理解和預測地球氣候系統(tǒng)的動態(tài)行為,特別關注在人為強迫下氣候系統(tǒng)的穩(wěn)定性與變率。當前研究問題包括:全球變暖背景下厄爾尼諾是否會變得更加頻繁和強烈,以及地球氣候系統(tǒng)是否存在類似金星式的失控不穩(wěn)定風險。研究組也致力于將氣候系統(tǒng)研究中的洞見應用于其他對人類生存與繁榮至關重要的復雜系統(tǒng)的理解與預測。

工作地點:南京大學蘇州校區(qū)(中國蘇州)

Postdoctoral Researcher – Climate System Dynamics Group

The Climate System Dynamics Group, led by Professor De-Zheng Sun at Nanjing University, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the understanding of the complexity of El Niño and to improving its prediction.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position intended to support early-career researchers preparing for independent careers in academia or research.

Responsibilities:

·         Conduct research using models of varying complexity to explore the causes of El Niño diversity and complexity.

·         Analyze model outputs and observational data to test hypotheses and refine model structures.

·         Assist in the development of new conceptual and dynamical models as needed.

·         Collaborate closely with other members of the Climate System Dynamics Group.

·         Present research findings at scientific meetings and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications:

·         Ph.D.  in atmospheric sciences, oceanography, climate dynamics, applied mathematics, physics, or a closely related field (completed or expected shortly).

·         Strong background in dynamical systems, mathematical modeling, and climate variability.

·         Experience with numerical modeling and data analysis.

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Prior research experience related to El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) or tropical climate variability.

·         Familiarity with both idealized and comprehensive climate models.

·         Familiarity with basic methods and tools for analyzing nonlinear and complex systems.

About the Climate System Dynamics Group: Led by Dr. De-Zheng Sun, the Climate System Dynamics Group focuses on understanding and predicting the dynamic behavior of the Earth's climate system, with particular attention to its stability and variability under anthropogenic forcing. Current research topics include the future behavior of El Niño under global warming and the potential for runaway climate instabilities similar to Venus. The group also seeks to apply insights from climate research to the broader understanding of complex systems essential to humanity's future.

·         Location: Nanjing University Suzhou Campus, SuzhouChina

·         Position Type: Full-time, fixed-term (initial appointment typically for three years, with possible renewal based on performance and funding)

·         Start Date: Preferred start date before September 1, 2025
